Planting for the allotment

Well i planted some seeds last weekend. broad beans in pots in the shed, a new variety i haven’t tried before called Witkiem. Also started up my two heated propagators and have bonica f1 aubergine, zuchetta squash and cauliflower in them.

Just checked, no sign of life except the cauliflower which is already a good centimeter high and showing the first set of leaves!

UK to pay for your generated electricity?

This news story suggests that the UK are moving over to a system by 2010 of ensuring a fixed amount is paid to towns and people generating their own electricity. This could be another reason for people to start considering moving to Solar.

I got a quote a couple of days ago to install 1KW of Solar PV panels which after the grant game out at £4500, approximately half the cost that I was quoted 2 years ago. With the above scheme it could really start looking viable.
